All-star female line-up bring history’s Psychobitches to life on Sky Arts.
Some of Britain’s best-loved female comedians will star in a one-off comedy production on Sky next month. Big names from TV and film, including Katy Brand and Catherine Tate, will appear in the 30-minute programme Psychobitches on Sky Arts in June.
The final addition to Sky Arts’ successful Playhouse Presents series, Psychobitches puts history’s most-famous women in the psychiatrist’s chair, and puts their obsessions and neuroses under the spotlight.
With The Thick Of It star Rebecca Front as the therapist, Catherine Tate will tackle Eva Braun and Edith Piaf, while Katy Brand is Joan of Arc and Sheila Reid - best known for her performance as Madge in the ITV comedy Benidorm - will play Mother Theresa.
Other figures include Beatrix Potter - who believes the animals are really talking to her - and Judy Garland, as she struggles to cope with bi-polar mood swings and singing compulsion. The show is being directed by Jeremy Dyson of The League of Gentlemen fame.
Ben Cavey, the show’s executive producer, commented: “Psychobitches has to be one of the most exciting ensembles of female comedic talent. I’m so excited that Jeremy Dyson has decided to direct a TV comedy for the first time.”
Playhouse Presents continues every Thursday at 9pm on Sky Arts 1 HD. The season finale Psychobitches will air on Thursday 21 June.
